Chronos is a deeply interesting asset, out of the box is easy enough to have full control over your gameplay timeline in less than a minute. But the posibilities doesnt stop there, you can have different timelines per object (example: one going full time, other going backwards, or just no be affected by the timeline at all), you can set it to work by triggers or zones, and the code is neat enough to be easy to access with a couple of simple scripts and integrate it in whatever you are working on (in a couple of minutes).

It can record animations, physics, particles (even navmesh generation), though I havent tried to use it with any other patchfind/navmesh other than the unity navigation one. All this is already set up in the basic set up (I did a basic bullet-time gameplay test scene in 5 minutes) it handled everything that I needed automatically. You can also make script variables work within chronos with little effort, so you dont really have to accomodate all your existing game logic to this.

This asset comes with actions for playmaker, node canvas and behavior designer (in their own assets), so if you use this assets you are good to go, but integrating it to any script is not much more difficult.

The tutorials in their webpage are neatly done and will definitely help you understand the setup of the asset and build what you need.

The bottom line: his asset is pretty much Braid gameplay mechanics in your project with various cool features and modularity/flexibility to do whatever time manipulation gameplay you may think of. Also did I said that this asset almost doesnt affect performance at all ? Thats pretty incredible.

Since there is no review of this asset I'm happy to do it. This is one cool asset with a AAA-feeling to everything around it. The sales material is amazing with that video and website. And it is pretty much the only time control that works in the store as far as I know. It is hard to say something really significanty bad about it really except for that it might be a bit complicated in theory and in practice. It is a bit like Inception if you are going to keep track of several timelines where different things affect these in different ways. It might be a good idea to know C# if you want to use this.

The part about it being a bit complicated mostly in theory but also in practice is somewhat mitigated by the sleek-looking tutorials available at the creators website ludiq.io. Here pretty much everything about the basics is explained.

There are quite a few bugs and limitations. Physics objects might pass other items and particles are not really working with Chronos. There are apperently some issues with animation as well. Some issues are said to have no work around by the author on his website. I guess since this system is such a complicated one and basically unique you will have to take the bad with the good.

The fact that Unity awarded it with a prize for the best asset in 2015 make it a pretty sure bet. It is also frequently updated and likely to be updated for a long time to come.

And this uploaded version is as of this writing (mid dec '15) the latest version which is nice too.
